nature is warning

whispered commands

hush us to listen

or tell us power is elsewhere

and that can be a grave mistake

no human contact

 turning away, face

indifferent to me there

strips me of being

i’m fat; how can i be invisible?

i appear to be invisible now

i wait over an hour past

my appointment time while

the nurse calls patient from

the lobby without even making

eye contact let alone explaining

to me why, after the long wait,

i am seeing someone else

rather than the physician

blind to borders

poor Bluffo stubbed

bloody toe at the border

he refused to see

generous spirit

her generosity of soul giving again and again

where those who receive think not of returning

or even of carrying their own weight

how do i protect her?

or would i be interfering?
