saucy underskirts
saucy pink underskirts
of clouds at sunset
dancing slow-motion
into the night
saucy
saucy pink
layered sunrise
thunderous blue cloudbank wedged upward by pink-purples
a tier of magenta and another of orange-gold
each layer succeeded by brighter rose-golds infused
with incipient sunlight,startling with promise

red rock canyon
An original poem by MaryJane Nordgren
red rock canyon, nevada
wild burro nibbling on scant gray-green
among unkempt cacti
in front of layered mountains, tumble-textured rises
and calico hills vibrant with orange, beige
gypsum white, scab-blood, iron red
grizzled brown, dotted green
and haunted by startling, deep-shadow black
mj
rose-gold promise
el Graco purples seep to rose gold dawn
streaked blue-purples
el Greco dramatic sky
gentleness hinted
by dawn’s warm rose
