unkind to those who lack respect

an accusation of me for calling out

those who lack respect

for fellow humans

simply because we are human

those whom i disrespect because i watch

them ridicule persons with disabilities

hear them slight those who serve

as fools for putting themselves

in harm’s way

smell the corruption of granting

contracts without bids as long as

there are under-the-table ‘gifts’

touch the lives of workers unpaid

or underpaid for their labor

wince at the alternate facts and lies

ascribed to their opponents and

never acknowledged as their own

yet i am ‘unkind’ to publish their

diminution of the dignity

of the less powerful

i will continue such unkindness

in the cause of justice
