times of trial

 we pray:

“Save us from the times of trial”

when what we need

is the Lord’s help to face them

We cry out, “Why is this happening

to me?” when that energy is needed for courage to face the reality,

to work toward a solution.

The trials will come.

The 23rd Psalm acknowledges

hills and valleys, enemies, danger

and fear but promises the Lord will

lead us, rather than provide a limousine,

beside still waters and restore our souls

The Lord will be there as guide and

strengthener but our growth toward the Lord requires us to struggle, walk

and work through

rather than run away from trials
