that’s the way it is
“Remember,” a church lady
proclaimed, “for every child, there is
a mother who loves him.”
I bowed my head, wishing
with everything within me
that what she believed were true
Children need to learn to love
and many, being given so little themselves or, neglected or abused,
learn, rather, to regard others as they
have been considered and behave
as they have seen modeled for them
A child must learn to love
If his caretakers cannot or do not cherish
can we who see, afford not to give
whatever we can?
resentment
again resenting as the same people
take without acknowledgement
and the leeches demand more
when i feel i need help
that it is the same people i have
worked for for years should tell
me that nothing has changed except
within me
admit i am hurt, tired, overwhelmed
and protect myself to allow me to heal
as resentment is almost as defeating
as whining
prophet and loss
sound-proof room needed
no inter-office e-chatter
to decide how much less expensive
it is when a patient has dementia
to deny medical treatment
for anything else
la sin duh
my dislike then extends to myself
haiku
lingering dislike
breeds fault finding when
i can’t walk away
