whispered blue morning

gentle fog cushioning dawn

“sleep in, rest and heal”

gray at four

haiku

gray fog dense at four

dissolving by six lends hope

of bright-hued sunrise

whispered sunrise

whispered sunrise

mauve and burnt-orange

muffled by mist

maple glow

haiku

glow of maple orange

even of the last few leaves

pierces misty fog

release

haiku

small screw-in bulb sends

photons penetrating dense fog

emotion stays wound

white-out assurance

white-out this morning

but merely from fog, not snow

chill from the dampness

yet i know from experience and faith

that what lurks next to me will dissipate

and the familiar objects and colors

will emerge as though regrown

what i can only barely imagine

is the terror in such conditions

of those who do not have

such self-assurance

snow dusting of blue

snow dusting of blue distant hills

turns them mysterious blue-heron gray

yesterday’s thick inches and pallid

fog created of my lawn and evergreens

my personal, enclosed, white world

this morning’s dusting brings

the distant blue close ‘round me

white world today

white world today

with icing of snow

and marshmallow fog

only foraging birds have color

valley cumulus

 clouds trapped between the hills

create fog in the valleys

but whisper peace to those

who look over from above

but fear to tread
