emergency handled well

a small fire at our senior living

yesterday but the piercing alarm

alerted us all and the staff reacted

quickly and with thoughtfulness

fire trucks arrived all but immediately

we sat in partial shade on the sidewalk

across the street or stayed in our rooms

with the front door closed, as instructed

fire in one of the commercial dryers

soon put out and, warm but refreshed

with ice-cold water we returned

to Merrill Gardens

our scheduled Open Mic had been

out shouted by the alarm but we can

reschedule that

what matters is how protected we feel

that MG responds so well

to an emergency
