despite our trampling

while we humans fret about robots

smarter than we are and, oblivious

and greedy, wipe out species after species

the littlest forms of life go about

their beneath our trampling feet

and in the corners of our glanced-at

observation as though we matter

not at all – life incessant despite

our clumsy reign of arrogance

and terror
