decision made

no more half-measures

no way to temporize

surgery needed to replace my knee

my daughter came with me

knowing firsthand as she’s

had both her own knees replaced

and glad of the technology

that allows her free movement

as i will, eventually, but she

knew the questions to ask

and what the answers meant

grateful to have her come

why, again, i feel i am

the luckiest person i’ve ever known
