a tax bill out of the blue

a tax bill came today from a jurisdiction I do not live in

it is now due, with added interest and penalties

although today is the first actual bill I’ve gotten

(beyond a notice months ago that I might owe

and would know sometime later)

it seems a bit self-serving

             – even Catch 22
